Hordes of collectors in the currently running TM PnP Rich Rewards Promotion are angry that the supermarket giant, for the third year running, is failing to meet the high demand for the rewards to be redeemed in the promotion.
In a statement, also posted on their Facebook page on Monday this week, TM PnP blamed the “overwhelming support” which “has now led to an out of stock situation on certain pans”.
Apparently, the lowest hanging fruit in the promotion is the 20cm fry pan which collectors can redeem at 35 stamps. This is also the pan which has been most affected in the unraveling shortage country wide. 35 stamps are equivalent to purchases of US$185.00 in TM PnP stores.
For any purchase of at least US$5.00, TM PnP customers are entitled to a single collectors coupon.
The most challenging reward which predictably remains plenty in stock is the 28cm deep fry pan worth 95 stamps.
To get 95 stamps, collectors must first part with at least a total of US$475.00 in purchases. This can happen at once or over time over the duration of the promo.
Folks who responded to the apologetic statement posted on Facebook were furious that TM PnP had ran into the same situation as in the last two editions of the promotion learning nothing from similar problems in the past.
What also drove mad many who commented on social media is that the retail giant failed to predict that a shortage would occur particularly on the fry pans requiring the least collection of stamps.
During the 2016 shortages, the supermarket chain resorted to taking down contact details of collectors who failed to get their folks, knives and spoons. Some people claim they never heard back from the supermarket and consequently lost out.
The promotion started on the 1st of March and ends on the 2nd of July 2017.
Despite the shortages, the promotion will not be extended.
